5 Essential Rules for Using Suspended Scaffolds
Working at height is an integral part of construction and industrial maintenance sectors. However, this brings serious safety risks. As Platformsan, we always act in accordance with EN standards to keep safety at the highest level in suspended scaffold systems.
1. Do Not Skip Periodic Inspections
All mechanical, electrical and rope systems should be inspected before and after each installation, and also before starting work each day. These inspections should carefully examine for wear, looseness or damage.
2. Follow Load Capacity
Each suspended scaffold system has a specified maximum load capacity (SWL). Exceeding this capacity can lead to equipment damage and accidents that endanger workers' lives.
3. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All personnel working on suspended scaffolds must use full PPE, including fall arrest systems. Safety harnesses must always be attached to an independent safety rope on the scaffold.
4. Monitor Weather Conditions
Work should not be carried out in adverse weather conditions such as strong winds, storms, heavy snow or icing. If wind speed limits are exceeded, the scaffold should be immediately lowered and secured.
5. Expert Installation and Training Required
Installation of suspended scaffolds should only be carried out by expert technical personnel. Additionally, all personnel using the scaffold must be fully trained in proper system use, emergency procedures and rescue techniques.
